About The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Full Stack Developer (PHP/Laravel) to join our client's dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of developing a sophisticated data platform that handles large volumes of real-time environmental data. As the company's first dedicated developer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and refining the core system that ingests, processes, and visualizes complex datasets. Your work will directly influence how scientific data is interpreted and utilized, supporting critical environmental initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both backend and frontend development, with proven experience in Laravel and Vue.js. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technical decisions, contribute to system architecture, and ensure the platform remains scalable, reliable, and user-friendly. This position offers the flexibility of remote working, with occasional travel to the company's headquarters in Norwich, providing a balanced environment for professional growth and personal development.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer, with a focus on PHP and Laravel frameworks.
• Strong proficiency in Vue.js and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly MySQL.
• Experience with DevOps practices, including Linux and AWS cloud environments.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to development challenges.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable, efficient backend systems using Laravel and PHP.
• Create intuitive and responsive front-end interfaces with Vue.js.
• Design and optimize database schemas to support high-volume data ingestion and retrieval.
• Implement robust APIs to facilitate external integrations and data sharing.
• Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure the platform's security, performance, and reliability through best practices and continuous improvement.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to maintain high-quality standards.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the platform's architecture and technical roadmap.
