About the opportunity
As part of our continued growth, we’re looking for a motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our Sydney-based team. You’ll work closely with the Project Manager to support and lead key PMO functions, including project planning, risk management, and client delivery across a range of projects and programs.

What you will be involved in:
- Supporting the Project Manager with project scheduling, budgeting, analysis, and reporting.
- Ensuring project deliverables are met on time and to the highest quality standards.
- Leading and facilitating risk management workshops, ensuring outcomes are actioned.
- Developing and maintaining risk management frameworks, tools, and templates.
- Managing project risks and issues, including accurate and timely updates in risk tools (e.g. CURA/ARM).
- Conducting qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.
- Supporting project audits and aligning risk logs with project schedules.
- Collaborating with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
- Ensuring all activities are carried out safely and in line with NRC operating procedures.
About you
We’re looking for someone who has the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated project management experience within infrastructure, construction, or transport sectors.
- Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end project lifecycle and project management concepts.
- Practical experience using formal risk management tools and processes.
- Strong stakeholder management and client engagement skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Previous experience in consultancy or client-facing environment with a strong understanding of service delivery and client expectations.
- Proven ability to follow governance and compliance procedures.
- Advanced IT proficiency including MS Office applications.
Although not essential, it would be an advantage if you had:
- Formal qualifications in project or risk management.
- Experience with scheduling tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- A relevant bachelor’s degree or higher.
