ABB is a pioneering technology leader with a comprehensive offering for Process Industries. Our Dundalk R&D Center in Ireland produces market leading measurement, control and automation systems for the Pulp and Paper industry – all brought together via software.

We are looking for a highly talented and motivated Software Engineer to work on the development of our digital automation solutions. You’ll be working with a truly global leader in a sustainable process industry, with many opportunities for personal and professional development. The position is based in Dundalk, Ireland and occasional international travel will be required. ABB Ireland embraces flexible working policies.

Your responsibilities

• Developing new processes and applications as needed, using Lean & Agile development methodologies.
• Developing applications/products using JavaScript frameworks and various system's APIs.
• Creating and modifying code using APIs from specification, performing unit tests, and fixing defects.
• Participating in analysis, design and coordination with other teams/functions.
• Preparing and delivering life-cycle documents as required by project.
• Ensuring timeliness and quality of deliverables.
• Create bug reports in Jira and following up with assigned engineers, testing fixes.
• Working with end user teams to assist them in designing and documenting User Acceptance tests.
• Communicating effectively in both verbal and written forms with all stakeholders.
  
  

Your background

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
• 3+ years’ experience in a software product development using JavaScript, HTML5, CSS.
• Experience with Microsoft .NET stack (WCF, C#, ASP.NET).
• Exposure to WebAPI’s (e.g. REST, SignalR & Websockets).
• Experience with NodeJS runtime environment.
• Experience/knowledge with Visual Studio, Jira and Git.
• Experience with database design and using SQL.
• Exposure to JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Exposure to multi-threaded systems.
• Exposure to C# software development.
• Experience with Design Pattern and OOD principles.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent technical problem-solving, design, coding, and debugging skills.
• Strong communications skills, ability to work with team members across multiple locations.
• Strong desire to learn.
• Familiarity with unit testing frameworks such as XUnit/NUnit is a plus.
• Familiarity with container framework technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Familiarity with Identity and access management using OAuth2 and JWT is a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure IoT is a plus.
