Backend Engineer – Node.js | Cloud Infrastructure

Remote (UK or Europe-based) | Full-time

The Role

We're looking for a talented Backend Engineer to take ownership of our server-side development and cloud infrastructure. You’ll work closely with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Infrastructure: Design, build, and manage scalable infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Backend Development: Develop robust backend services and APIs using Node.js.
• Database Design: Work with PostgreSQL to build and optimize database architecture.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Use Docker to containerize applications and manage deployments using Kubernetes or similar tools.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Implement tools to monitor application health, performance, and uptime, and troubleshoot any issues.
• Security: Apply security best practices and ensure infrastructure and applications meet modern compliance standards.
• Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with cross-functional teams and maintain clear, up-to-date documentation for infrastructure and systems.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience as a backend engineer or similar role
• Proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript
• Solid understanding of AWS and cloud-based architecture
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and relational database design
• Familiarity with RESTful API development
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

Bonus Skills (Not Required)

• Experience with serverless architecture (e.g., AWS Lambda)
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
• Knowledge of TDD and testing frameworks
