Role Overview

We are seeking an innovation-driven Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead Bybit’s global technology vision and execution. The CTO will be a crypto-native leader with deep fintech or financial services experience, capable of scaling world-class trading systems while pioneering the next era of blockchain-driven financial infrastructure.

This role goes beyond maintaining systems — it’s about shaping the future of crypto trading, custody, and payments through groundbreaking technology.

Key Responsibilities

Vision & Strategy

• Define and drive Bybit’s technology vision and multi-year roadmap, aligning with business goals and global regulatory requirements.
• Lead Bybit into the next generation of exchange infrastructure, leveraging blockchain, DeFi, and emerging technologies (e.g. AI, Layer-2 scaling, zero-knowledge proofs).
• Anticipate industry trends and position Bybit at the forefront of crypto innovation.

Innovation & Product Development

• Oversee the design and delivery of ultra-low-latency trading platforms, advanced derivatives products, and blockchain-enabled financial services.
• Incubate and launch new technologies across trading, payments, and digital asset custody.
• Foster a culture of R&D excellence, ensuring Bybit continuously pushes boundaries in crypto product innovation.

Infrastructure & Security

• Architect scalable, resilient, and high-performance systems capable of handling billions in daily trading volume.
• Ensure institutional-grade security and risk management, safeguarding user assets and data against evolving threats.
• Lead ongoing investments in redundancy, disaster recovery, and global infrastructure expansion.

Leadership & Team Building

• Build, lead, and inspire a global, high-performing engineering and technology organization.
• Champion a culture of innovation, speed, and accountability.
• Develop leadership pipelines and ensure continuous professional growth within the tech team.

Governance & Stakeholder Management

• Ensure all technology operations comply with international regulatory, AML, and data privacy standards.
• Serve as a strategic partner to the CEOs and Board, translating complex technical strategies into business impact.
• Represent Bybit externally at industry events, partnerships, and key strategic discussions.

Candidate Profile

• Proven Leader: 15+ years in technology leadership roles, with at least 5+ years as a CTO, Head of Engineering, or equivalent role.
• Crypto & Fintech Expertise: Experience in global fintech platforms, leading financial institutions, or stock exchange etc., experience in top-tier crypto exchanges is highly preferred.
• Blockchain-Native: Good understanding of blockchain protocols, crypto trading infrastructure, custody, and DeFi ecosystems.
• Technical Excellence: Strong understanding or background in high-frequency trading systems, distributed systems, cybersecurity, and cloud-native architecture.
• Global Perspective: Track record leading multi-region, multicultural technology teams in high-growth environments.
• Entrepreneurship & Problem Solving: Strong sense of ownership and innovation mindset, able to lead to team for problem solving.
• Languages: Fluency in English; Mandarin proficiency is a strong advantage.
