DevOps Engineer

Senior DevOps Engineer | Cloud Infrastructure | AWS | South West (Hybrid)

We’re working with a cutting-edge tech-driven organisation that’s scaling fast and seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to take a pivotal role in shaping and securing their cloud platform and infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of operations and development, driving automation, reliability, and performance across a high-availability estate.

💡 What you’ll be doing:

• Architecting, maintaining and optimising cloud environments (predominantly AWS) for performance, resilience, and cost-effectiveness
• Building and enhancing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions (Terraform preferred)
• Leading DevOps best practices, including CI/CD (Jenkins, Bitbucket) and containerisation (Docker)
• Championing security standards across infrastructure – IAM policies, encryption, backups, vulnerability management
• Supporting engineering teams in deploying robust pipelines and container-based services
• Mentoring others and acting as a go-to technical escalation point within a close-knit team

🛠 Key tech skills you’ll bring:

• Strong commercial experience with AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, ECS, CloudFront, etc.)
• Deep proficiency in Terraform and infrastructure automation
• Strong scripting ability (e.g. Python, PowerShell, Bash)
• Solid knowledge of CI/CD processes and tools
• Good understanding of Linux systems (iptables, routing tables) and network configurations (VPCs, SGs)
• Exposure to monitoring and observability tools (e.g. CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus)
• An AWS certification (Architect Associate or similar) is expected

🧩 Nice to have, but not essential:

• AWS Architect Professional or additional AWS specialisations
• Related Microsoft, Linux, or Networking certifications
• Degree in Computer Science or similar discipline

🌍 Location & Flexibility:

Based in the South West, with flexibility for hybrid working. Occasional travel to UK sites may be required for project delivery.
