Job Summary:

The Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Quarter is looking for a Junior Front-End Developer to join their team. In this part-time role, you will support the design, development, and maintenance of digital experiences, focusing on creating responsive and visually compelling user interfaces under the guidance of a Full Stack Engineer.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain front-end components using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.

• Create blank slate pages, custom blocks, and widgets within WordPress for partner activations and fan engagement.

• Ensure seamless integration with backend APIs and other data sources.

• Translate Figma designs into functional, accessible, and responsive user interfaces.

• Identify and resolve bugs to improve performance and reliability.

• Collaborate closely with design, marketing, and backend teams to deliver cohesive digital products.

• Maintain version control using Git/GitHub.

• Document processes and development workflows for internal reference.

• Contribute to UX/UI discussions and continuously improve digital product quality.

• Stay informed on web standards, accessibility best practices, and evolving front-end technologies.

• Commit to building inclusive and accessible digital experiences.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Demonstrated experience in front-end web development, or equivalent project-based experience.

• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

• Experience with React and Next.js frameworks.

• Strong working knowledge of WordPress, especially creating custom templates and modules outside of standard theme structures.

• Familiarity with API consumption and basic data management workflows.

• Experience with version control tools like Git and GitHub.

• Ability to problem-solve independently and collaborate effectively across teams.

• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to balance priorities in a changing environment.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with tools and platforms such as: Design & Prototyping: Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator; Content & Documentation: Notion, Coda; Development Tools: Git, GitHub, network proxies, SEO tools.

• Awareness of accessible development practices and inclusive design principles.

• Experience designing maintainable and efficient front-end architecture.

• Understanding of performance optimization and cross-device compatibility.
