The Project Manager will have a commitment to embracing the humanity of people with disability and families and driving person-centred approaches to service system design and implementation through skilled project management and application of sound project management methodologies that support agility and risk management.

You will understand the factors that influence successful project outcomes, including the governance structures required to achieve collaboration, engagement factors relevant to cross-agency service design and delivery and the range of stakeholder needs that might be required to support evidence-based decision making.

As a Project Manager You Will

  • Support the Director to deliver the department's commitment to designing and implementing the Foundational Supports service system as a significant component of the disability reform agenda.
  • Collaborate across government/s and with the disability sector on the design of foundational supports, as well as meeting expected levels of accountability through established governance forums.
  • Expertise in applying appropriate project management techniques and methodologies, to develop project plans and management tools, including benefit realisation and risk and issue management processes that ensure quality project outcomes are delivered.
  • Lead the assessment, development, promotion and implementation of methodologies, guidelines, standards and tools to establish a best practice approach in delivery of projects to support people with disability.
  • Proactively monitor, control and report on implementation trends and performance against project plans, deliverables and schedules.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with public, private and not-for-profit stakeholders to assist in the successful delivery of agreed projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage influence and connect with others and build positive productive internal and external working relationships, through hybrid models.
  • Plan, organise and manage the unit's responsibilities, including fostering a professional environment to encourage commitment, ethical behaviour, staff wellbeing, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.


Your Mandatory Requirements

Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications required for this position, it would be highly desirable for the successful applicant to possess experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience and high level knowledge in program and project management, issues and trends in public sector service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage significant systems change and drive continuous improvement within a complex and diverse work environment.
