Senior Legal Counsel

DiscoverCars.com, a top global car rental marketplace, seeks a proactive, business-minded, and solution-driven Senior Legal Counsel. This role requires a legal expert who takes ownership, drives legal projects to completion, and effectively manages stakeholder expectations. Responsibilities:

• Own and lead legal projects (compliance and advisory) from start to finish.
• Provide clear and actionable legal advice to key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Lead legal angle of cross-functional and cross-industry collaboration on Finance, HR, commercial, and customer service topics, with multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Ensure legal compliance and protection of intellectual property (IP) - international brand protection, marketing activities, technology, etc.
• Contribute to commercial matters like drafting, reviewing, and supporting the negotiation of business contracts.
• Ensure compliance with the EU and International law regarding customer protection rights and commercial regulations.
• Oversee immigration and employment law compliance, supporting the HR team on legal matters.
• Advise on corporate governance and business structuring, covering Latvian and international law matters.
• Work with external regulators and legal advisors when necessary, but keep core legal expertise in-house.
• React to regulatory updates, identify possible legal risks or opportunities, and develop a solution-oriented road map to meet all regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

• 7 + years of experience in corporate, commercial, and regulatory fields.
• Strong expertise in Latvian,  EU, and International law. 
• Skilled in risk assessment and legal writing.
• Strong understanding of IP rights and e-commerce regulations.

• Ability to manage and align stakeholder expectations across multiple teams.
• Quickly switch between changing priorities and topics.
• Experience in leading international legal projects.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Fluent in Latvian and English.
