NIQ’s data management consultancy is focused on transforming how CPG organizations manage, integrate, and activate their data. As a Director Data Management Consultant, you will spearhead enterprise-level data strategy engagements, combining deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to drive data governance, architecture, and transformation initiatives across client organizations. The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, champion data-driven cultures, and ensure alignment between data capabilities and business objectives.

About the Role:

As a Director Data Management Consultant, you will spearhead enterprise-level data strategy engagements, combining deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to drive data governance, architecture, and transformation initiatives across client organizations. The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, champion data-driven cultures, and ensure alignment between data capabilities and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Lead the development and execution of enterprise data management strategies that align with client business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as an industry thought leader in data architecture, governance, and quality, influencing C-level stakeholders and shaping long-term strategic roadmaps.
- Partner with NIQ leadership to build and scale our capabilities globally, with a primary focus on developing frameworks, methodologies, and best practices which deliver exceptional client value
- Drive innovation at NIQ by identifying emerging trends and technologies in data management and translating them into actionable strategies.
- Apply deep, hands-on experience in CPG data management to inform client data architectures, governance frameworks, and integration pipelines that are scalable, secure, and future-ready
- Act as a senior advisor to executive stakeholders, translating complex data challenges into strategic opportunities; lead executive workshops, assessments, and roadmap development sessions to drive data maturity.
- Facilitate collaboration between technical teams and their cross-functional stakeholders (CMI, Analytics, Marketing, Sales, Category Management, Finance, C-Suite, etc).
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for multiple concurrent client engagements, ensuring high-quality delivery and client satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with global data regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and proactively manage data-related risks
- Oversee audits, assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives to uphold data governance standards.
- Support analytics and BI functions by ensuring data is accessible, reliable, and optimized for insight generation.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in data management, consulting, or enterprise data leadership roles; relevant experience in CPG or retail highly preferred.
- Proven success in leading large-scale data transformation programs.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building, scaling, and innovating.
- Exceptional communication skills with strong technical and executive presence.
- Proven ability to bridge technical and business domains.
- Mastery of SQL, data modeling, and modern data architecture principles
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g Azure, AWS, GCP), ETL (e.g. Informatica, Talend, Alteryx), and Data Warehousing tools (e.g. Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
- Experience with BI & visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Looker)
- Experience applying AI to data management use cases is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with Clean Room technologies is highly desirable.
