What You Will Do

We’re seeking an entrepreneurial full-stack engineer who will work closely with the team to architect, build and scale Desai’s platform, powered by our state-of-the-art AI algorithms.

You will have significant ownership of the technical architecture of our product and play a pivotal role in building the core technology that will power our innovative furnishing platform. You will be hands-on in crafting solutions that balance leading research with practical implementation, ensuring our platform not only meets user needs but also pushes the boundaries of what AI can achieve in e-commerce.

You will collaborate closely with the Founder and Head of AI to design, develop, and deploy scalable AI-driven solutions. Your work will involve building AI-based product features and implementing the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle from data collection to model deployment, including building integrations and ETL pipelines, scraping, transforming raw data into an actionable database and developing sophisticated recommendation algorithms.

As a founding engineer, you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the code you write: development, test, deployment, support and any bug fixes. You’ll be a subject matter expert in at least a large part of the code base with a good understanding of the overall product.

On a day to day basis you will

• Collaborate with the CEO and Head of AI to define and implement the technical roadmap for our AI-driven platform
• Design, develop and maintain the front- and back-end MVP of our platform, ensuring a seamless user experience and robust system performance
• Implement MLOps, building and maintaining scalable, full-stack machine learning pipelines that can handle large volumes of data efficiently
• Prototype and test new features to enhance the user experience
• Integrate machine learning models into our platform’s back-end, ensuring smooth deployment and operation
• Work on data collection including scraping and APIs, data preprocessing and feature engineering, ensuring data quality and availability for the models
• Provide technical mentorship and leadership to future team members as the company grows
• Be proactive in staying up-to-date and applying novel technologies in order to ensure incremental increase in quality and/or performance of the product.
  
  

This role is ideal for a versatile and hands-on engineer who is passionate about leveraging AI to create meaningful user experiences and is excited about the challenges and opportunities of working in a dynamic start-up environment.

What You Need To Be Successful

• Strong Technical Expertise with AI-related applications including a deep understanding of both front-end and back-end development and a proven track record of building and maintaining scalable, full-stack applications.
• Full-Stack Versatility asa jack-of-all-trades when it comes to full-stack development. Whether it’s optimising a database, debugging a front-end issue, or tweaking an API, you’re capable and eager to dive into any part of the tech stack.
• MLOps Proficiency with hands-on experience in integrating AI models into production systems and having experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model deployment.
• Problem-Solving Mindset approaching challenges with creativity and tenacity to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment where new problems arise every day and are skilled at finding practical, innovative solutions.
• Collaboration and Communication skills to work closely as a cross-functional team, articulate technical concepts and brainstorm innovative solutions in a collaborative environment.
• Startup Mindset understanding the unique challenges of working in an early-stage startup and eager to wear multiple hats, be self-driven and take initiative, adapting to changes and contributing wherever needed to push the company forward.
