About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Android Developer to join our dynamic tech team in Manchester City Centre. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and enhancement of our Android mobile applications, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with the latest industry standards. You will take ownership of the Android platform, influence architectural decisions, and drive the adoption of best practices in mobile development. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Android application development with proven leadership experience. Essential qualifications include proficiency in Java and Kotlin, with a solid understanding of REST APIs, JSON data handling, and modern testing methodologies such as TDD and BDD. Experience with frameworks and tools such as Retrofit, Dagger, RxJava, OkHttp, and Espresso is highly desirable. A thorough understanding of Clean Architecture principles and experience working within Agile development environments are also required. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to mentor others, and a passion for delivering high-quality, user-centric mobile applications.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Android Developer, your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design, development, and maintenance of Android applications, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
• Driving architectural decisions and implementing best practices for clean, modular, and testable codebases.
• Mentoring and coaching junior and mid-level developers to foster professional growth and technical excellence.
