Head of Transaction Monitoring

PAYSTRAX is an innovative financial technology company specialising in payment card acquiring, providing European and UK merchants with state-of-the-art solutions for all their electronic payment transaction needs. PAYSTRAX is a licensed Payment Institution as well as a principal member of both Visa and Mastercard. As the Company is expanding here in Lithuania and looking for a Head of Transaction Monitoring, we are looking forward to finding out whether it is YOU, who will join our ambitious team in Vilnius or Klaipėda, Lithuania. You will report directly to the Group Chief Security and Risk Officer and be part of the leadership team.

ROLE AND MAIN TASKS:

• Develop and lead the company’s transaction monitoring strategy, aligning with growth objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee all monitoring programs, ensuring strong governance, risk mitigation, and compliance practices.
• Leverage data analytics to improve Fraud and AML detection accuracy and effectiveness.
• Supervise timely review, escalation, and resolution of AML, Card Scheme, Chargeback, and Fraud alerts and investigations.
• Build, mentor, and cross-train a high-performing team, encouraging a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant local and international regulations and standards (e.g., AMLD, FATF, Card Scheme Programs).
• Continuously enhance transaction monitoring policies, procedures, and tools in collaboration with technology and compliance teams.
• Deliver regular reporting, insights, and KPIs to senior management; represent the team during audits, committees, and regulatory reviews.

REQUIREMENTS:

• University degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in the transaction monitoring, financial crime, compliance or fraud prevention, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in a regulated financial or fintech institution, with strong knowledge of AML/CTF laws, fraud typologies, and payment industry risks.
• Solid understanding of chargeback and fraud programs, card schemes’ regulations, and merchant acquiring dynamics.
• Excellent critical and analytical skills, strong attention to details. You are logical but guided by common sense.
• Demonstrated teamworking abilities, enabling effective collaboration in a multicultural environment, including cross-departmental and cross-border cooperation. Shows responsibility, a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and initiative.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Lithuanian.
