Job Title: DevOps Specialist (On-Premise Kubernetes & Automation)

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Specialist to support the operation, administration, and continuous improvement of our on-premise DevOps platforms. This role is tailored for professionals with strong experience in self-hosted Kubernetes environments (OpenShift/Rancher), Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and CI/CD tooling (GitLab, GitLab-CI). The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving automation, enhancing platform reliability, and contributing to internal tooling efforts.
Note: This role is not focused on cloud-native environments; expertise in on-premise infrastructure is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Kubernetes Administration:
- Operate, administer, and enhance on-premise container orchestration platforms (OpenShift / Rancher).
- Manage deployments, ingress controllers, storage classes, custom resources, RBAC, network policies, and security contexts.
- Perform day-2 operations such as upgrades, tuning, backup planning, and disaster recovery.
- CI/CD Pipeline Management:
- Design, maintain, and improve GitLab-based CI/CD pipelines for on-premise workloads.
- Infrastructure Automation:
- Develop scripts and tools using Python and Bash to automate platform operations and administrative tasks.
- GitOps & IaC:
- Utilize ArgoCD to implement GitOps workflows and manage Kubernetes manifests through version-controlled repositories.
- Linux Administration:
- Support and integrate with Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems across data centers, including system troubleshooting and optimization.
- Collaboration & Documentation:
- Work with internal teams via Jira and maintain technical and operational documentation in Confluence.
Mandatory Skills
- Kubernetes (OpenShift / Rancher – On-Premise):
- Proven hands-on experience managing and maintaining self-hosted Kubernetes clusters.
- Strong understanding of networking, security, RBAC, and cluster add-ons.
- Linux (RHEL):
- Deep expertise in administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems in enterprise environments.
- CI/CD (GitLab, GitLab-CI):
- Strong background in configuring and optimizing CI/CD workflows in GitLab.
- Scripting & Automation:
- Proficient in writing automation scripts using Python and Bash.
- Infrastructure as Code / GitOps:
- Hands-on experience with ArgoCD and managing declarative Kubernetes configurations.
- Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
- Knowledge of Kubernetes security hardening best practices.
- Experience with Ansible, Terraform in on-prem environments.
- Understanding of service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio).
- Exposure to cloud environments (optional).
Key Deliverables
- Ansible Tower to AAP Migration:
- Migrate existing workloads from legacy Ansible Tower to Red Hat Automation Platform, with complete documentation and handover.
- GitLab Migration:
- Transition GitLab assets to a new SaaS instance (GitLab.com), including pipelines, repositories, runners, and post-migration validation.
- OpenShift Upgrade (4.14 to 4.18):
- Plan and execute the upgrade with minimal downtime, ensuring full documentation and operational continuity.
- MDE Project DevOps Support:
- Provide CI/CD enablement, Kubernetes resource configuration, and DevOps engineering aligned with MDE project requirements.
