DevOps Engineer – Kafka Service

At ABAKUS IT-SOLUTIONS, we are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to take ownership of Kafka services within a complex and dynamic enterprise environment. If you thrive on automation, real-time data, and infrastructure optimization, this role is made for you!

Your Mission

  • Deploying, configuring, and managing high-availability Kafka clusters.
  • Tuning performance of producers/consumers, optimizing partitions and replication strategies.
  • Automating deployments using Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Ansible.
  • Monitoring with tools like Dynatrace, ELK, or Splunk - and taking action before incidents happen.
  • Implementing security best practices, including SSL/TLS, Kerberos, and RBAC.
  • Integrating Kafka into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, ArgoCD).
  • Planning capacity and scaling strategies to ensure robustness under load.
  • Collaborating with development teams to support Kafka-based applications and use cases.
  • Documenting procedures and training internal stakeholders.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years' experience in DevOps, SRE, or Kafka infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, including configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash) and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Kubernetes-based Kafka deployments.
  • Knowledge of Kafka ecosystem components: Kafka Connect, KSQL, Zookeeper, Schema Registry.
  • Familiarity with observability tools: Dynatrace, ELK, Splunk.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD.
  • Good understanding of security and access control in distributed environments.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written). Any other European language is a plus.
  • ITIL certification or other technical certifications (Kafka, Kubernetes, Cloud) are a strong asset.
