The Department – Product

This role focuses on transforming the tools and systems that empower our legal teams. It requires a strategic mindset, a data-driven approach, and strong collaboration with legal professionals and technology teams to create world-class solutions.


Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Product Leadership

  • Define and drive the Product Vision & Strategy for Matter Lifecycle, focusing on delivering measurable value for legal professionals and clients.
  • Lead a continuous discovery process, gathering real-world insights, testing assumptions, and iterating based on user feedback.
  • Develop a data-driven product roadmap, ensuring strategic alignment with business goals while maintaining flexibility to adapt to evolving needs.
  • Champion innovation and problem-solving, leveraging emerging legal technologies, automation, and AI to enhance legal service delivery.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams, including engineering, UX/UI, legal operations, and compliance, ensuring seamless product development.
  • Foster a co-creative process, where legal teams, product teams, and technology stakeholders work collaboratively rather than following a request-driven model.
  • Engage with external technology partners and vendors, ensuring their solutions align with our strategic objectives.


User Research, Product and Market Discovery

  • Lead user research efforts, engaging directly with legal professionals and clients to understand their pain points and uncover opportunities for innovation.
  • Conduct regular testing and validation of solutions through rapid prototyping and feedback loops, ensuring solutions truly meet user needs.
  • Stay ahead of legal tech trends and competitive offerings, identifying potential opportunities for differentiation and continuous improvement.

Product Lifecycle Management

  • Own the full product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and beyond, ensuring continuous iteration and enhancement.
  • Advocate for agile and iterative development methodologies, enabling fast learning cycles and incremental delivery of value.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to prioritize technical investments, scalability, and long-term sustainability.
  • Establish clear, outcome-driven success metrics, focusing on efficiency, adoption, user satisfaction, and overall business impact.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Define, track, and communicate value-driven KPIs, ensuring that product success is measured by its impact on legal service efficiency and client experience.
  • Use data analytics to drive decision-making, continuously refining product strategy based on performance insights.
  • Regularly present insights, progress, and strategic updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Resource Planning and Management

  • Develop and manage product budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Identify resource needs and collaborate department heads to allocate personnel effectively.
  • Identify and manage risks related to product development and deployment.
  • Develop mitigation strategies to address risks proactively.
  • Implement and manage product SLAs in collaboration with teams and vendors.

Skills/Experience

Professional Experience

Product Management Expertise:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Product Manager, preferably within the legal industry or technology sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and managing products.
  • Knowledge and ideally experience of product operating model

Strategic Planning:

  • Experience in developing product strategies and roadmaps that align with organisational goals.
  • Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day operational details.

Technical Skills

Industry Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with legal technologies, software development processes, and the unique needs of a law firm.
  • Understanding of data protection regulations and compliance requirements.

Methodologies and Tools:

  • Proficient multiple approaches and methodologies including waterfall and agile.
  • Ability to interpret technical language and bridge communication between technical and non-technical teams.
  • Knowledge of the product operating model (SVPG)

Leadership and Collaboration

Team Management:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate a clear vision of strategic objectives that inspires
  • Line management experience.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal teams, clients, and senior executives.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate to achieve project goals.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities

Data-Driven Decision Making:

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Experience with data analytics tools and techniques.
  • Experience working in a data driven development methodology focused on value metrics and iterative approaches.

Innovative Thinking:

  • Ability to generate creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Openness to new ideas and willingness to challenge the status quo.

Communication Skills

Verbal and Written Communication:

  • Exceptional communication skills to convey ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations to diverse audiences.

Documentation:

  • Proficiency in creating product documentation, including business cases, requirements, user stories, training and internal product marketing material.
