Executive Manager, Employee Relations

The role is responsible for leading, managing and developing a specialist team of employee relations practitioners in the delivery of expert complex Human Resource (HR) case management services and the provision of expert specialist HR advice to the Director, Senior Executives and managers of the QAS, in accordance with current legislation, directives and HR policies and procedures.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

  • Demonstrated contemporary knowledge and ability to provide expert interpretation and application of public sector legislation, directives, industrial instruments, policies and procedures to manage complex and sensitive employee performance and conduct matters, ensure organisational compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated high level experience in providing expert technical and specialised strategic ER advice with superior analytical and problem-solving skills and judgement to provide contemporary and innovative approaches to managing performance and conduct matters.Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships and liaise, advise and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders; and demonstrated experience and ability to represent the Queensland Ambulance Service at whole of sector meetings and other forums including the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission and other tribunals
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and mentor and develop a high performing team of HR practitioners.


The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

  • Whilst not mandatory, possession of tertiary qualifications in the areas of human resource management, employment relations or employment law, along with relevant experience will be highly regarded.
