The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Markets & On-Chain Analyst to join our newsroom. The ideal candidate will be a blend of a financial analyst and a seasoned journalist, capable of translating complex, data-driven insights about the cryptocurrency and blockchain markets into clear, compelling, and accurate content for a diverse audience. This role is for a journalist who can go beyond simple news reporting to provide in-depth analysis and context on market trends, on-chain data, and the broader economic and regulatory landscape.

Note: This position is based in Portugal and will be required to work from our Almada office 2-3 days per week. Required days onsite are at the discretion of the hiring manager and may be adjusted based on business needs.

What You Bring

• Conduct in-depth market research and analysis of cryptocurrency and blockchain markets. This includes technical and fundamental analysis of various digital assets, tracking price movements, trading volumes, and market trends.
• Utilize on-chain data and analytics platforms (e.g., Dune Analytics, Nansen, Glassnode) to identify significant transactions, wallet movements, and other metrics that can inform market narratives and predictive insights.
• Research, write, and produce high-quality, data-backed articles, reports, and features on a wide range of crypto-related topics, including decentralized finance (DeFi), NFTs, regulatory developments, and emerging projects.
• Conduct investigative reporting by digging into project tokenomics, identifying potential scams or vulnerabilities, and holding key industry figures accountable.
• Build and maintain a network of sources, including developers, venture capitalists, project founders, and institutional investors, to gather exclusive insights and inform your reporting.
• Collaborate with editors, fact-checkers, and multimedia producers to ensure all content is accurate, adheres to journalistic standards, and is presented in an engaging format.
• Anticipate and report on potential market shifts, technological advancements, and regulatory changes that could impact the crypto ecosystem.
  
  

What You Have

• Proven experience as a journalist, analyst, or researcher, with a portfolio of published work demonstrating a deep understanding of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and financial models.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English is required.
• Experience utilizing AI tools to assist in research and content production; data analysis, trend identification, or drafting initial content outlines, with a solid understanding of the ethical considerations and best practices for their use in journalism.
• Experience with analyzing on-chain data and proficiency with blockchain analytics tools.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a strong command of journalistic ethics and standards.
• A solid understanding of financial principles, technical analysis, and risk management.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A passion for the Crypto/Web3 space and a commitment to continuous learning in a rapidly evolving field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field is a plus.

• Experience with various trading platforms and exchanges.
• Familiarity with crypto social media and community platforms (e.g., Twitter, Telegram, Discord).
