The Role
Help us reinvent search in a fast-growing SaaS platform by building a smart, semantic engine that understands user intent. You’ll design and prototype a system that enables users to find complex entities, such as patients, dashboards, and charts, using natural language, fuzzy logic, and meaning-based search rather than keywords. The project blends embeddings, large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and ranking strategies into one unified experience. Ideal for someone excited to build practical ML in a real product used daily by experts.
This role is based on-site in our Zürich office.
To learn more about our internships, hear from previous interns themselves:
- The team was tight-knit and always ready to help. Mentorship came from everyone, not just the manager.
- Working in a small team made communication easy, and the fast-paced, hands-on approach kept everyone engaged.
- The work directly impacted end users, so you could see the real-world benefit of what you built.
- The internship allows you to learn new practical skills on a modern tech stack.
- Feedback from managers and teammates was consistent, which made learning on the job fast and smooth. The team truly valued learning and growth.
- You quickly learn to understand customer needs, which helps you build products that solve real problems.
- Seeing your features in use by real people, and getting feedback from them, was a great learning experience.
- You develop project management skills, like planning and delivering features on a tight schedule, which isn't something you usually get at university.
- You learn to work strategically and adjust your pace when needed—sometimes you push fast, sometimes you slow down.
- Best practices like code reviews and retrospectives become second nature, and you live them out daily.
- You had to get comfortable working on complex technical problems.
- You regularly find and analyze problems, working through them to come up with improvements.
- Being around more senior engineers kept you on your toes. It was challenging, but it pushed you to learn fast and absorb everything you could from the team.
