Chief Technology Officer (Crypto Payments, Lithuania)

About the Client:

Our client is a fast-growing international crypto payment company that builds secure, compliant, and scalable infrastructure for businesses across the globe. With its headquarters in Tallinn and licensed operations in multiple EU countries, the company enables merchants to integrate crypto payments through on/off-ramp services, B2B wallets, and API-driven products. As part of its strategic expansion, the company is establishing a local entity in Lithuania and is seeking an experienced CEO to lead operations on the ground.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join the executive team in Lithuania. This individual will be a Board Member and hold direct responsibility for the company’s technology strategy, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and overall IT governance.

The CTO will play a critical role in building secure, scalable systems in line with regulatory requirements and in support of the company’s product and business goals. The role requires hands-on technical leadership and the ability to communicate effectively with both regulators and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the technology strategy of the Lithuanian entity, ensuring full alignment with the global product and infrastructure roadmap.
• Oversee all aspects of IT infrastructure, systems architecture, and product development from a regulatory and security standpoint.
• Ensure robust information security frameworks are in place, compliant with local and EU regulations, including MiCA, DORA and other crypto-specific requirements.
• Act as the key representative for IT and security in communication with regulators, auditors, and licensing bodies.
• Supervise technology-related risk management, business continuity planning, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Support the development and maintenance of the company’s crypto processing infrastructure and core B2B platforms.
• Lead technical teams and oversee recruitment, development, and retention of high-quality engineering and IT talent.
• Ensure all IT and security operations comply with company policies and legal/regulatory obligations.
• Collaborate closely with fellow board members and executive leadership to drive innovation and performance.
  
  

Key Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership or C-level technology role within the fintech, crypto, or payments industries.
• Strong background in IT infrastructure, software development, cybersecurity, and regulatory tech compliance.
• Previous experience working in a regulated environment (e.g., PSP, EMI, CASP).
• Familiarity with Lithuanian and EU regulatory frameworks, including MiCA, DORA, GDPR, and ITSEC standards.
• Proven ability to manage complex technical teams and projects from both strategic and hands-on perspectives.
• Experience with crypto processing systems and security measures is a strong advantage.
• Full professional fluency in English, Lithuanian is a plus.
