Job Summary For Clojure Developer – Philadelphia, PA

  • Position: Clojure Developer
  • Location: Philadelphia, PA (3-4 days onsite/week; local candidates within 30-40 miles preferred)
  • Duration: Through end of year, potential for extension
  • Required Experience: 8+ years (10+ preferred), Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field (Master’s desirable)
  • Programming Skills:
  • Mastery in Clojure, Java (preferably Java 1.8), Python
  • Knowledge of Golang and JavaScript (NodeJS) desirable
  • Cloud Experience:
  • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, Fargate, etc.)
  • Proven track record in developing cloud-based services (SaaS) and platforms (PaaS)
  • Architecture:
  • Experience developing microservices and complex microservice-based architectures
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems design for scalability, performance, and availability
  • Knowledge of distributed network architectures and network security
  • Database Skills:
  • Good knowledge of data persistence, relational databases, and NoSQL solutions (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redis)
  • Best Practices:
  • Experience establishing non-functional best practices for security, audit, latency, availability, and scalability
  • Collaboration:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work closely with architects, product managers, and development teams
  • Experience mentoring and providing feedback to other developers
  • Agile:
  • 3+ years working in agile software development teams
  • Key Technologies:
  • AWS, Clojure/ClojureScript, Redis, Kafka, PostgreSQL, HashiCorp stack
  • Responsibilities:
  • Create, manage, and operate microservices and microapplications
  • Define and maintain common frameworks and libraries
  • Troubleshoot and improve system architecture for quality, performance, and security
  • Deliver high-quality software incrementally in an Agile environment
  • Promote and help adopt best-in-class software engineering practices, frameworks, and tools
