IT Network Engineer

Freelance IT Network Engineer – Onsite (Geel, Belgium)

Location: Geel, Belgium (4 days - On Site)

Contract Type: Freelance Contract 1 year (Extendable)

Language: Dutch required

We are looking for a skilled IT Network Engineer to join a freelance project for a client in Belgium. The role involves working across multiple sites, handling Cisco switch infrastructure, and leading small network design and standardization projects.

• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco switching equipment across multiple sites
• Design and deploy networks (5 to 30 switches per site)
• Implement network segmentation for performance and security
• Set up local firewalls to separate IT and OT infrastructure
• Create and maintain clear network topology diagrams
• Lead hardware and network renewal/standardization projects
• Deploy and manage network monitoring tools
• Provide recommendations to improve performance, reliability, and security
• Set up automated backup systems for network devices
• Travel to local sites when needed
• Collaborate with the local infrastructure team for architecture alignment

• Experience with Cisco switching (configuration, troubleshooting, etc.)
• Network design and deployment experience
• Familiarity with segmentation, firewalls, and security best practices
• Strong documentation and diagramming skills
• Dutch speaking is mandatory
• Able to work 4 days onsite in Geel
