AI Engineer | Greenfield Scaleup | GenAI & LLMs | Cologne (Hybrid)

AI Futures have been exclusively retained to appoint an AI Engineer for a next-generation industrial technology company headquartered in Cologne. With greenfield architecture, scaleup energy, and a €50 million revenue target, this is a hands-on engineering position with significant scope to shape the GenAI stack from the ground up.

You’ll work at the intersection of AI engineering and business operations; building scalable systems using LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and automation frameworks, while collaborating with stakeholders to turn operational challenges into AI-powered solutions.

Hybrid: 2 days per week onsite in Cologne

Remuneration: Up to €100k total package

The Role

• Design and implement GenAI applications with a focus on LLMs, RAG, and intelligent automation
• Translate business requirements into scalable, production-ready AI tools
• Build data pipelines, PoC models, and full-stack ML solutions using Python and modern frameworks
• Support discovery workshops and contribute to early-stage architecture decisions
• Evaluate third-party AI platforms and open-source models for integration
• Contribute to MLOps workflows including deployment, monitoring, and model iteration

The Candidate

• 2+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, data science, or applied AI delivery
• Solid understanding of GenAI, transformers, and embedding-based architectures
• Proficient in Python and frameworks such as Hugging Face, LangChain, scikit-learn, or PyTorch
• Comfortable with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and container tech (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Confident working in agile, cross-functional teams and engaging both tech and business stakeholders
• Languages: German (English an advantage)
