Director of Software Engineering

I’m working with a global healthcare organisation who are seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of Software Engineering to join their Product Engineering leadership team. This is a hybrid role based in Dublin city centre. This role will be instrumental in defining and executing technology strategy across multiple engineering teams, driving innovation, and enabling business value through high-performance delivery. Responsibilities:

• Lead technology strategy and manage MBOs across several software engineering teams.
• Build and mentor high-performing teams and leaders.
• Champion modern agile tools, engineering best practices, and continuous modernization.
• Foster a strong engineering culture at both leadership and team levels.
• Collaborate with product management to build and deliver effective roadmaps with measurable success.
• Oversee group-level budgeting and forecasting.
• Influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive delivery excellence.
• Evaluate and promote emerging software technologies and industry trends.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in engineering leadership within commercial product development.
• Demonstrated success managing engineering teams and coaching technical talent.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and modern software delivery practices.
• Strong background in setting and executing technology strategy tied to business outcomes.
• Ownership of customer-facing applications and service reliability metrics (SLA/SLO).
• Deep understanding of production infrastructure and ongoing application support.
