Frontend Developer (m/f/d)

The position

As of now our IT Engineering Chapter is looking for an experienced and team orientated Frontend Developer to join our SMART platform team, a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, UX/UI designers and product managers. Together you will work on our SMART Process Design, which is one of our most promising digital applications, enabling lab scientists to interact with machine learning models to optimize upstream and downstream pharmaceutical processes. This position is based in Vienna at our campus in Hetzendorf.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Build and extend features in the SMART Process Design UI using Angular and TypeScript and integrate the frontend with backend services using GraphQL and REST APIs
  • Collaborate with data scientists to design intuitive UI components that enable interaction with machine learning models
  • Use Node.js and command-line tools as part of your daily workflow
  • Contribute to agile development practices (Scrum/Kanban), code reviews and team rituals, help maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Docker and OpenShift
  • Write and maintain both end-to-end and unit tests as part of a robust testing strategy


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent with hands-on experience with Angular, TypeScript, HTML and CSS as well as UI/UX Design experience (Figma, Photoshop, Material Design) and interviewing users
  • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and how frontend integrates with backend services as well basic knowledge of version control (Git) and developmental workflows
  • Experience working in agile teams, excellent communication skills and a collaborative and curious attitude
  • Fluency in English is required, German skills are valued
  • Nice to have: understanding of CI/CD workflows and DevOps principles, experience using generative AI tools like GitHub Copilot, Node.js, NestJS or Express, experience with Cypress or other end-to-end testing frameworks, exposure to Python and scientific computing libraries (e.g., NumPy, pandas, SciPy)

The remuneration for this position starts at EUR 60.000 gross annual target salary per year (full time). The actual salary package depends on professional experience and qualifications. We will be happy to discuss further details in person.
