Why This Role Is Right for You

As a Backend Developer – SCS Engineer, you’ll join a collaborative and forward-thinking team based in Milan, Rome or remote across Europe. Together, we’re building a new partner platform for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) across the Nordics – enabling seamless merchant onboarding, fast activation, and modular integration through a scalable microservices architecture.

About Your Future Role

In this position, you will:

• Develop and maintain self-contained backend services (SCS) for key platform capabilities such as merchant onboarding, partner management, and terminal handling.
• Design and implement secure, high-performance REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Write reliable service logic including domain models, workflows (e.g. KYC, contract generation), and backend business rules.
• Integrate backend services with databases and internal APIs (e.g. CRM, TMO).
• Ensure data consistency, proper error handling, and seamless communication between services.
• Write unit, integration, and contract tests to maintain code quality and performance.
• Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, QA and security teams to deliver end-to-end functionality.

Essential Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend development experience in microservices architecture.
• Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot), .NET, or equivalent frameworks.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and integrating with relational/NoSQL databases.
• Strong understanding of containerized applications and deployment (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Solid grasp of software engineering principles including versioning, CI/CD, testing, and clean code practices.
  
  

Bonus Skills

• Experience with Kafka, message queues or event-driven architecture.
• Familiarity with identity/auth frameworks (OAuth2, OIDC).
• Understanding of onboarding/KYC flows in fintech or payments.
• Knowledge of domain-driven design and vertical scalability patterns.
• Experience working in international, cross-functional agile teams.
