C\C++ Programmer

Job Title: Senior C/C++ Developer - Legacy Systems (Mainframe/Solaris)
Location: Melbourne/sydney
Employment Type: 6+ months contract
Clearance: Must be an Australian Citizen (Baseline Clearance recommended)

We're seeking an experienced C/C++ Developer with a strong background in maintaining and optimising legacy systems hosted on Mainframe and Solaris platforms. You'll play a key role in system improvement, incident/problem resolution, and 24/7 support, ensuring critical business applications run seamlessly.

• Maintain and enhance legacy C/C++ applications to ensure stability and performance.

• Optimise applications to extend usability and minimise downtime.

• Conduct thorough testing and provide end-user support for legacy systems.

• Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve problem tickets with in-depth technical investigation.

• Perform operational monitoring, alerting, and tuning to ensure optimal system performance.

• Offer innovative solutions aligned with modern technologies while respecting legacy constraints.

• Build and maintain relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Provide 24/7 application support as part of a rotating on-call roster.
  
  

• Australian Citizenship (Baseline Security Clearance recommended).

• Proven technical expertise with Mainframe/Solaris hosted applications.

• Experience in supporting systems using surrounding software technologies (scheduler, transaction processor, middleware, etc.).

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  
  

• 3-5 years' experience in:

  • C/C++ development

  • XML/XMLT

  • Mainframe environment software development and maintenance

• Experience with automation (REXX highly desirable).

• Familiarity with Agile practices and tools (JIRA, Confluence, Kanban, Sprint).

• Technical exposure to:

  • Mainframe architecture, middleware, and tooling

  • Batch technology from a technical development perspective
