Are you ready to launch your engineering career in a dynamic and innovative environment? We’re looking for a Layout Engineer to join our team and support the development of layout designs for complex FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) projects. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers to create functional and efficient layouts that meet process, safety, and regulatory requirements.
You will contribute to the design and modelling of 2D/3D layouts, support conceptual planning, and help optimise constructability and maintainability within your assigned areas. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your technical expertise and be part of a company shaping the offshore energy industry.
At Altera, we specialise in delivering large, technically complex major projects in the offshore energy industry. Once projects are completed, we operate the units with our own offshore personnel. The development and execution of such large-scale projects demand advanced engineering and world-class project management. Providing operational support to our global portfolio of FPSOs requires an experienced, proactive, and competent team of engineers.
We hope you are the one to complement this team, and we invite you to play your biggest game with us at Altera!
Some of the things you will be doing:
- Develop overall layout and plot plans based on high-level process requirements using 2D and 3D modelling tools.
- Independently create functional layout solutions that comply with specifications and national regulations.
- Design layouts with a strong focus on constructability, conversion, and maintainability.
- Translate conceptual designs into practical layouts for new build FPSOs, aligned with client input and expectations.
- Consider economic factors impacting the layout of assigned areas.
- Deliver a wide range of process engineering outputs at FEED level, including:
- Plot plans and equipment layouts based on PFDs/P&IDs and engineering best practices.
- Safety-focused layout solutions incorporating mechanical handling and maintenance needs.
- Produce clear documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and management-level review.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and analysis for internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners.
Some of the things we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical discipline.
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in an engineering role.
- Experience with FPSO layout design is desirable.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Some of the things we can offer:
- Development opportunities; you can be a part of (inter)nationally based project teams for shorter or longer stays.
- Flexible work location / home office after agreement with manager.
- An open collaborative workplace where you can have immediate impact.
- Challenging work in a dynamic environment.
- A total compensation package including extended health benefits, pension, AFP, short-term incentive award.
- Office located in Trondheim. Work in the Powerhouse with a view over the Trondheim Fjord and a 2 minute walk to Trondheim Central Station.
- Free parking close to the office.
- Good canteen arrangement.
- Membership of our Art club.
