Vacancy: Freelance Information Security Officer (Amsterdam Region)
Location: Amsterdam (Hybrid/On-site possible)
Start date: As soon as possible
Duration: 3-6 months (with possible extension)
Hours: 32-40 hours per week
Rate: Competitive, based on experience

About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Information Security Officer (ISO) to support and strengthen the information security posture of our client, an organisation based in the Amsterdam region. As ISO, you will act as the key point of contact for all security-related matters, helping shape, maintain, and enforce security policies, frameworks, and awareness throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and update the existing Information Security Management System (ISMS)

• Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, GDPR, and other relevant standards and regulations

• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans

• Provide strategic security advice to management and stakeholders

• Lead awareness initiatives and internal training sessions

• Coordinate internal and external audits

• Work closely with IT, legal, compliance, and operations teams

Your Profile:

• Proven experience as an Information Security Officer or similar role

• Strong knowledge of ISO 27001, NIS2, GDPR, and risk management frameworks

• Experience with security audits and vendor risk assessments

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

• Fluent in Dutch and English (verbal and written)

• Based in the Netherlands, preferably in or near Amsterdam

• CISSP, CISM, or CISA certification is a plus
