Within the framework of the STO Collaborative business model, the CSO provides executive and administrative support to the S&T activities performed by the NATO Scientific and Technical Committees (STCs).
I n the Front Office of the Operations and Coordination Office (OCO), the OCO Intern works under the supervision of the Staff Officer (OCO) to provide additional support to the STC Offices in all Assistants’ tasks pertaining to the support to the STO Collaborative Programme of Work (CPoW) and assist the OCO Front Office staff with a variety of tasks.
Under the direction of the Staff Officer (OCO), and in close coordination with the STC Offices Executive Officers and Assistants, he/she is responsible for:

The CSO will sponsor your VISA application for non-EU citizens.
The appointment is subject to the receipt by the CSO of a security clearance (provided by the national authorities of the incumbent).

- POST CONTEXT AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Within the framework of the STO Collaborative business model, the CSO provides executive and administrative support to the S&T activities performed by the NATO Scientific and Technical Committees (STCs).
I n the Front Office of the Operations and Coordination Office (OCO), the OCO Intern works under the supervision of the Staff Officer (OCO) to provide additional support to the STC Offices in all Assistants’ tasks pertaining to the support to the STO Collaborative Programme of Work (CPoW) and assist the OCO Front Office staff with a variety of tasks.
- Functions include:
Under the direction of the Staff Officer (OCO), and in close coordination with the STC Offices Executive Officers and Assistants, he/she is responsible for:
- Supporting the OCO Front Office staff and STC support staff in administrative and logistical affairs.
- Assisting in organizing support to STC activities, such as business meetings, technical activities including Symposia, Specialists’ Meetings, Workshops, Task Groups, Courses and other Panel functions.
- Supporting in the preparation of call-for-papers, instructions to authors, general information package, program announcements, preprints and proceedings of technical meetings ready for reproduction and dissemination.
- Maintaining records, contacts and database as required. Collaborating with colleagues to ensure an exchange of information. Administrative support to the various projects (e.g. events organization, publication process), respecting deadlines, resources and priorities.
- Preparing documents of non-technical nature for signature.
- Executing special projects that aid forecasting, planning and controls for the OCO.
- Developing and experimenting with new ideas that aid the CPoW.
- Ensuring the maintenance of proper and timely communication with individuals in international programs as a representative of the CSO
- Performing other related functions as directed by the Staff Officer (OCO) or Head, OCO.
- QUALIFICATIONS
Professional /Experience
- No requirements.
- Having successfully completed at least two years of University education in an applicable area, or demonstrated equivalent training.
- Be able to either take notes or write meeting reports, with proficiency in one.
- Be able to use common office software suites, such as Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Proficient knowledge of one of the two official NATO languages (SLP:4343) and a fair knowledge of the other (SLP: 2222). The work is mainly conducted in English.
The Following Would Be Considered An Advantage
Professional /Experience
- Prior experience in a Scientific and/or Technological professional environment and/or within the public sector.
- Prior experience in a multinational environment.
- Advanced training in the use of office software suites.
- Candidates should note the work of the CSO is predominately administrative in nature however Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics qualifications will be considered as an asset.
- Project Management experience.
- Very good knowledge of both NATO official languages, with a particular focus on English
- Knowledge of other European language(s).

- Reliability, trustworthy, discreet, with high sense of responsibility.
- Good judgment.
- Ability to take initiative and to work independently. Should possess a flexible approach allowing the incumbent to respond reliably and competently to changing requirements.
- Capable of working in a demanding scientific international environment.
- Personal qualities of tact, judgment, adaptability. Diplomacy and propriety in order to work harmoniously with colleagues and other staff, both civilian and military, from NATO and non-NATO Nations, as well as with staff from private scientific/industrial organisations.
