Senior Machine Learning Engineer

We are hiring on behalf of our client for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer role. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead the development and deployment of advanced AI solutions within a dynamic, data-driven environment. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with leadership experience and will be instrumental in driving innovation through applied machine learning across core business areas.

This position involves overseeing a multidisciplinary team, managing third-party solution providers, and collaborating across departments to integrate AI capabilities that optimize operations and deliver measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead the end-to-end development lifecycle of AI/ML solutions, from data sourcing and model training to deployment and performance optimisation.
• Stay informed on emerging trends in artificial intelligence and apply relevant techniques to solve complex business problems.
• Ensure compliance with data governance policies, including privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.

Vendor & Partner Management

• Identify and evaluate external AI technology vendors when needed.
• Oversee integration of third-party solutions into the client’s existing systems, ensuring quality, scalability, and maintainability.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with product leaders, domain experts, and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI-driven improvements.
• Present project updates, outcomes, and technical strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Coordinate with legal, compliance, and risk management teams to ensure AI initiatives meet industry standards and internal protocols.

Operational Excellence (MLOps)

• Implement best practices for machine learning operations, including model versioning, monitoring, CI/CD, and retraining workflows.
• Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and recommend infrastructure improvements to support scalability and cost-efficiency.
• Ensure AI systems are robust, resilient, and maintainable in production environments.

Technical Requirements

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
• Experience with ML frameworks and libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong knowledge of data processing frameworks and database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Spark).

Leadership & Communication

• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing technical teams.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
• Track record of managing projects to successful, on-time delivery with clear business impact.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• Prior experience in industries involving regulated data or complex data workflows (e.g., risk modeling, claims analysis, fraud detection).
• Experience in managing and implementing external technology solutions is highly valued.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML, with a portfolio of successfully deployed projects.
• At least 2 years in a leadership role, managing teams or cross-functional initiatives.
