Head of Internal Audit (Remote - Germany, Portugal, Lithuania)

This leadership role offers the chance to shape and advance the internal audit function within a dynamic and innovative financial services environment specializing in digital assets and crypto custody. You will oversee risk-based audits focusing on IT systems, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance, ensuring operational resilience and security. Leading a small audit team, you will engage closely with both internal stakeholders and external auditors, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations. The position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills, ready to thrive in a fast-evolving sector.

Accountabilities:

• Lead and develop the internal audit team, fostering continuous improvement and audit excellence
• Design, plan, and execute the annual audit program prioritizing regulatory and operational risks
• Conduct thorough risk-based audits focusing on IT systems, cybersecurity, and crypto-related processes
• Review compliance with international regulatory frameworks and internal policies
• Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to executive management and governance bodies
• Provide advisory support on IT controls, regulatory requirements, and best practices to business units
• Monitor remediation progress and manage relationships with external auditors and regulatory authorities
  
  
  

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields
• Minimum 5 years auditing experience in financial services, with a focus on IT or crypto environments
• Deep knowledge of international regulatory frameworks relevant to the sector
• Solid understanding of blockchain technology and crypto asset custody services
• Experience leading small teams and managing cross-functional audits
• Familiarity with audit standards such as SOC, ISO/IEC 27001, BSI, NIST, or COBIT
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with an ability to explain complex concepts clearly
• Certifications such as CIA, CISA, CRISC, or equivalents are preferred
