As a Software Developer at ThingCo, you’ll be a key part of our backend engineering team, designing and building high performance, scalable services using GoLang, serverless architectures, and AWS. You’ll work closely with our product, data, and operations teams to deliver software that powers our telematics platform and supports our insurance partners.

This is a hands on role with plenty of scope to influence technical decisions, work with modern cloud native tooling, and see your work rapidly deployed into production.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services primarily using GoLang.
• Build and deploy serverless applications leveraging AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and other AWS services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Write clean, testable, and efficient code, following best practices in software development.
• Implement automated testing and CI/CD pipelines for reliable, repeatable deployments.
• Monitor and optimise application performance, reliability, and security.
• Participate in code reviews, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and contribute to technical strategy.

Essential:

• Proven experience in backend software development, ideally with GoLang.
• Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services, particularly serverless architectures.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and event driven systems.
• Proficient in version control (Git) and modern CI/CD workflows.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (e.g., AWS SAM, CloudFormation, Terraform).
• Solid understanding of software testing principles and practices.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of telematics, IoT, or the insurance industry.
• Experience with data processing pipelines and real time data ingestion.
• Exposure to containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (ECS, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of security best practices in cloud applications.
