We are proud to be launching a new state-of-the-art technology facility in Dublin, Ireland. The Dublin-based team will play a critical role in our continued digital transformation and will function as a center of excellence for SiriusXM’s global Product and Technology organization.
SiriusXM’s new Dublin facility will comprise a workforce primarily focused on software development, automotive technology and engineering, AdTech, data science, and analytics. Talent based in the new technology hub will be charged with developing and implementing best-in-class standards for high-quality, scalable software deliveries for SiriusXM’s streaming and in-vehicle audio entertainment platforms.
How You’ll Make An Impact
SiriusXM is rapidly expanding its services to drive further engagement of consumers via smartphones, tablets, PCs, and connected devices, while continuing to maintain and grow its adoption in connected cars. This position is a senior leader within the Client Software Engineering team, and a site-lead for our growing Client Software Engineering team in Ireland. The Director of Client Software Engineering will work closely with their counterparts in the United States, and will be responsible for delivering SiriusXM, and Pandora applications across our device ecosystem. In this position, you will work closely with your engineering peers to deliver work aligned to company goals and roadmaps. This role will report to the VP of Client Software Engineering.

What You’ll Do
- Own the application development technologies and toolchains used to power SiriusXM and Pandora applications
- Empower Developers: Boost developer autonomy, efficiency, and ability to contribute to parallelized work for each repo, application, or library within our scope. We want to encourage a culture of working smarter, not harder.
- Ensure a Great User Experience: Strive for a smooth, efficient, and delightful end user experience. Pro-actively protect end users from experiencing errors, degradations, and performance problems.
- Lead and grow an efficient and high performing diverse software development organization with a culture of agile development focused on developing best-in-class media entertainment experiences.
- Develop and foster an inclusive culture for all of our team members
- Ensure high consumer satisfaction through the development and operation of a highly performant and reliable web technologies on large-scale websites
- Attract and retain the high-caliber Software Engineering talent needed to deliver against SiriusXM’s Product Roadmap through high-performance, on-time and on-budget development programs
- Work with the leaders on your team to ensure technical best practices are constantly developed and enforced
- Work closely with your partners in operations and project management to ensure our SDLC is followed and constantly being improved
- Drive a culture of innovation and be an agent of change.
- Cultivate a culture that rewards aggressive pursuit of innovative solutions to problems.
- Be responsive to the business in proposing and developing new products and services.
- Identify opportunities to create new products and services that meet current and prospective market opportunities.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent experience, in lieu of degree.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- 5+ years leading software engineering teams in a technical organization.
- Experience and proven track record of delivering and maintaining software at scale to millions of active users
- Expertise leading teams that build client applications at scale
- Proven ability to recruit and retain world-class engineers.
- Excellent managerial skills and interpersonal skills; effectively communicate and collaborate with all areas of engineering, ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
- Strong understanding of engineering software processes, lifecycle methodology, configuration management, release management, and system verification and testing.
- Technical expertise in the following areas:
- iOS, Android and/or Web-based client application development
- Experience troubleshooting issues with caching infrastructure and CDNs from the client-side perspective
- Client-based Audio and Video advertising standards
- Media security (encryption, DRM, route protection, etc.)
- Software tools: GitHub, Jenkins, Jira
- Be obsessed with the performance of software and developer excellence
- Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
- Build & Release best practices
- Pragmatic approach to weighing engineering tradeoffs versus business needs.
- Accountability and a sense of extreme ownership that doesn’t end after the system is deployed to production.
