Senior Software Engineer - Unpublished R&D Product

Whether it’s backend systems, client features, performance tooling, or player-facing experiences, we create the infrastructure and features that shape player and developer satisfaction.
As a Software Engineer II, you will contribute to the development of foundational systems and features that power a new R&D gameplay experience. You'll work in a cross-functional team alongside producers, designers, and other engineers, helping define and deliver solutions that are scalable, performant, and tailored for both internal developer workflows and engaging player experiences.

Working closely with Riot teams globally, Riot Sydney is a powerhouse of talent, and experts in global development. Our team works on VALORANT, League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics, alongside exciting R&D and Tech projects.

Responsibilities:
- Uphold a high standard of engineering excellence
- Design, build, and maintain software systems with a focus on quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with designers, producers, and other engineers to scope, implement, and test features.
- Participate in code reviews, write unit/integration tests, and contribute to continuous improvement of team practices.
- Debug and resolve issues in live environments and development pipelines.
- Write clear documentation and communicate technical details across disciplines.
- Learn and contribute to shared libraries, tools, and platforms used across the project.
- 3+ years experience in professional software development
- Professional experience and proficiency with C++
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, concurrency, etc.)
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating across disciplines
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of multiplayer systems, content pipelines, telemetry, or build systems
- Experience developing within gameplay systems for Unreal Engine games
- Experience with perforce and/or github version control systems
