Junior Web Developer

The Midtown Group has been selected to fulfill three long-term contract roles for one of the area’s leading clean energy associations that builds and maintains award winning websites for their member organizations, "cleaner" energy companies.

The hiring organization will only consider local candidates who are up for working at least two or three days a week onsite in Arlington, particularly, on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Ideal candidates will be junior creative marketing professionals who are strongly skilled in CSS & HTML and also very good at talking through various components of web site development with a highly intelligent but not very technical audience. The work can be fast paced and requires exceptional customer service experience, strong organizational skills, and the self-discipline to prioritize effectively.

Position Summary:

Design, develop and maintain national web sites for the clean energy association members and provide technical, functional, and administrative support. Ensure that all assigned web sites are running smoothly, meeting goals, and objectives are key responsibilities. Brushing up the display of content on existing websites is also a priority, as well.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support operations of the association's web based programs. These programs are highly visible to cooperatives and consumers.

1. Manage day to day operations of Co-op Web Builder program (web site development tool currently deployed with 400 co-ops and 650 web sites in development).

· Work with Co-op Web Builder content management system to build web sites that provide brand identity and continuity.

· Consulting with members to develop and design web sites using several templates created from the Co-op Web Builder content management tool.

· Assist members by answering inquiries, filling member requests, and troubleshooting problems.

· For all sites help to define architecture and functionality; offer input and feedback to cooperative members on content, multimedia applications, structure, design and Touchstone Energy brand standards.

· Train members to use the Co-op Web Builder tool.

· Provide excellent customer service to cooperative members.

· Own problems, tasks and projects and work through them to completion.

· Frequently review and monitor web sites for accuracy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

· Degree in Art, Web Design and/or Development preferred.

· Strong customer service skills required.

· Eye for design and ability to create elements via CSS and HTML.

· 1-2 years’ experience with a variety of design tools including one or more of the following: Adobe Creative Suite or other web design tools.

· 1-2 years’ experience with content management system, WordPress and Drupal preferred.

· Expert with HTML/CSS and expected to use on a daily basis.

· Some experience with JavaScript and jQuery is desired, but not required.

· Knowledge of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) environments.

· Understanding of social media (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube) and applications for web use preferred.

· Web development and graphic design programs skills and work samples required.

Compensation, hours, and duration

$30.00 to $34.00 per hour, DOE.

Hours can vary but are usually in the 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EDT range, 40 hours per week.
