The Opportunity

Presight is seeking an innovative, creative and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to build the structure of advanced software applications by writing flawless business logic, server scripts, and APIs.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Backend Engineer you will design business specific software components and modules using appropriate modelling techniques in line with agreed software design standards, patterns, and methodology.

Functional

Data modeling from external sources and loading into application database (ETL).
Code optimization to enhance performance, stability and resilience of services.
Investigating data sources with complex structures, including binary formats, which may be only partially documented.
Formulating precise questions to clarify assumptions with the data provider.
Designing and implementing efficient transformation logic to convert the raw data into a usable format.
Deploying solutions to production.
Verifying its correctness and stability in a real-world environment.
Resolution of production incidents and post-mortem analysis.
Working with ML Engineers to help them build scalable and fail-proof services.
Comply with QHSE (Quality Health Safety and Environment), Business Continuity, Information Security, Privacy, Risk, Compliance Management and Governance of Organizations policies, procedures, plans and related risk assessments.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
Designing, building and supporting data intensive network services and jobs last 5+ years.
Developing applications for NoSQL, working with weak schema definitions, partitioning, partially available systems and unreliable networks.
Integrating with 3rd party systems using various protocols (queues, SQL, file based, gRPC, RESTful).
Supporting software on production, including logs and metrics analysis, adjusting configuration, collaborating with the SRE team.
Work with frontend team to collaborate on the API and data formats design.
Exposure to digital forensics domain.

Ideally, you’ll also need

Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
Strong experience with Python and exposure to other languages like Java or Golang or C++.
Very good understanding of Elasticsearch (queries, indices structure, mappings).
Deep understanding and strong practical skills with Kubernetes and containerized software.
Experience with message queues, preferably RabbitMQ but also SQS, Kafka, etc.
Hand-on experience with any SQL database.
Strong analytical mindset with a drive to dig deep into complex problems.
A natural curiosity and persistence in exploring data and solving problems at their core.
Comfortable working with ambiguity and exploring multiple layers of information.
Exposure to ML concepts and understanding key aspects of ML powered services (GPUs, pre/post processing, tensors, frameworks of deep learning PyTorch, serving layers).
