Our client is seeking an early-career Data Scientist to join our analytics and insights team, working on projects that shape how books and educational resources connect with young readers everywhere.
This role is hybrid in NYC. Please only current local candidates apply. This role is not available for C2C. The rate for this role is between $35-$40hr.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze large, complex datasets using SQL and Python (Pandas) to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities.
- Build and evaluate machine learning models (e.g., XGBoost, Random Forest) to address business challenges and improve decision-making.
- Support model deployment and monitoring efforts, ideally leveraging AWS SageMaker and Jupyter Notebooks.
- Apply best practices in version control and collaborative coding using Git.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business questions into data science solutions, clearly communicating findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Qualifications
- 0–2 years of experience (recent graduates encouraged to apply), ideally with some internship or project-based experience in analytics or data science.
- Proficiency with SQL and Python (Pandas).
- Familiarity with machine learning models such as XGBoost and Random Forest.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, finance, computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or other quantitative disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS SageMaker and/or Jupyter Notebooks.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL and working with customer datasets.
- Exposure to ML model deployment.
- Experience with Git for collaborative coding.
