Job Title: Telecom Transmission Technician

Job Purpose
The Telecom Transmission Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of transmission systems and related equipment to ensure optimal network performance and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Commissioning
- Install, configure, and commission transmission equipment such as SDH, PDH, DWDM, microwave, and fiber optic systems.
- Perform cabling, terminations, splicing, and connectivity testing.
- Operation & Maintenance
- Monitor network transmission systems using NMS/EMS tools.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of transmission equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and ensure systems are operating within defined parameters.
- Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose and repair faults in transmission links, fiber optics, and microwave systems.
- Coordinate with other technical teams to resolve service interruptions.
- Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level engineers when required.
- Testing & Quality Control
- Conduct link testing using OTDR, power meters, and other diagnostic tools.
- Ensure compliance with telecom standards and quality assurance guidelines.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance activities, and faults.
- Prepare technical reports and submit to the supervisor/manager.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety regulations and company procedures while working on-site.
- Ensure work complies with local telecom regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma / Certificate in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2–4 years in telecom transmission systems installation and maintenance.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficiency in fiber optic and microwave systems.
- Hands-on experience with SDH/DWDM/PDH equipment (e.g., Huawei, Nokia, Ericsson).
- Familiarity with NMS/EMS monitoring tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills.
- Understanding of telecom safety procedures and standards.
