Data and Intelligence Analyst

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data and Intelligence Analyst to join a government agency responsible for delivering impactful programs and services that make a tangible difference in the lives of Australians. This role offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership, deliver high-quality data insights, and influence decision-making processes across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-level technical and analytical expertise to support the organisation’s data and analytics initiatives.
• Design, build, and implement reports, dashboards, analytics, and data products that enable business insight.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive efficient and consistent decision-making.
• Influence business processes and design to ensure alignment with best practice information management and reporting principles.
• Translate complex technical data into clear, simple insights for a variety of audiences with varying data literacy levels.
• Promote best practice analytics methodology across the branch.
• Mentor and guide junior analysts.

Highly Desirable Criteria

• Experience with SAS Enterprise Guide and/or SAS Viya.
• Experience mentoring and developing junior analysts.
• Familiarity with Salesforce CRM and Analytics Studio.
• Adaptability to learn and apply new analytics platforms and programming languages as required.

Desirable Criteria

• Previous experience within government or large-scale data environments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 4 years’ programming experience in SAS, SQL, R, or Python.
• Proven ability to work independently and deliver results under limited supervision.
• Strong experience in data exploration and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or SAS Visual Analytics.
• Experience in an enterprise data warehouse (EDW) environment.
• Familiarity with project management frameworks, tools, and the full project lifecycle.
• Ability to translate discussions into clear data flows and actionable outputs.
