Front Office Business Analyst

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements Management

• Partner with front office traders, risk managers, and portfolio managers to gather, analyze, and document business requirements for trading systems and processes
• Translate complex trading workflows and business logic into clear technical specifications for development teams
• Conduct gap analysis between current state systems and desired future state capabilities
• Facilitate requirements workshops and stakeholder meetings to ensure alignment across trading, risk, and technology teams

Energy Markets Domain Expertise

• Leverage extensive knowledge of oil, gas, and power trading operations to provide subject matter expertise on market structures, product types, and trading strategies
• Support implementation of new trading instruments, market data feeds, and pricing models specific to energy commodities
• Analyze regulatory requirements and market changes impacting trading operations (EMIR, MiFID II, REMIT, etc.)
• Contribute to the design of trading workflows for physical and financial energy products

System Implementation & Testing

• Collaborate with development teams throughout the software development lifecycle
• Design and execute comprehensive test plans, including user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Support system integrations between front office trading platforms, risk systems, and downstream applications
• Participate in system deployments and provide post-implementation support

Process Improvement & Documentation

• Identify opportunities to optimize trading processes and enhance operational efficiency
• Create and maintain detailed process documentation, user guides, and training materials
• Support change management initiatives and user training for new system implementations
• Monitor system performance and user feedback to drive continuous improvement

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of energy commodity markets, trading instruments, and risk management concepts
• Experience with trading platforms such as Allegro, Endur, Titan, or similar ETRM systems
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Python/R preferred)
• Understanding of market data feeds, pricing models, and trade lifecycle management
• Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements for energy markets

• Strong communication skills with ability to interact effectively with traders, risk managers, and technical teams
• Experience facilitating cross-functional collaboration in fast-paced trading environments
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
• Understanding of software development methodologies (Agile/Scrum preferred)
