Core of the Assignment: Operational management and automation of a dynamic IT environment, including 24/7 support, using various technologies and Infrastructure as Code.

Requirements: Experience in application management, Red Hat 8.x or 9.x, Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab, CI/CD, Ansible Playbook, Python, Rancher, Elastic, Kibana, Kafka, Uptrends, Nessus, SAFe.

Additional Preferences: PKIO, (Open)SSL Client/Server Certificate Authentication, (Linux) Security, Web (OWASP) Security, eBMS messaging, Zabbix, Prometheus, PostgreSQL, Barman, MinIO, Harbor, Alpine or Wolfi (container OS), Jira, Confluence.

Objective of the Assignment: To establish a well-functioning operational IT environment that meets defined requirements and standards through a DevOps approach and the SAFe framework. The team collaborates effectively and strives for continuous improvement. It is also essential that all work is thoroughly documented and that knowledge is actively transferred to colleagues, with a proactive attitude.

Responsibilities:

• Managing applications in a complex, largely automated infrastructure (IaC).

• Participating in SAFe (Scrum) teams with colleagues from various organizations.

• Performing 24/7 support services, including for OSDBK.

• Supporting the migration from VMs to Kubernetes.

• Working with tools such as GitLab, Ansible, Docker, Rancher, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Monitoring and securing systems using Elastic, Prometheus, Nessus, and OWASP guidelines.

• Managing databases (PostgreSQL) and certificates (PKIO, SSL).

• Documenting and collaborating via Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow.

• Quickly adopting new technologies and solving problems independently.

Assignment Description: This is a temporary assignment from October 2025 until no later than October 2027. Early termination is possible with at least one calendar month’s notice. The goal is to manage a largely automated infrastructure based on Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with many processes set up via APIs and CI/CD pipelines. Additionally, applications currently running on virtual machines (VMs) must be migrated to a Kubernetes platform. The Site Reliability Engineer will also participate in 24x7 on-call duties.

General Requirements:

• Language: Candidate must be proficient in Dutch (minimum B2 level), both spoken and written.

• Availability: 40 hours per week.

• Participation in 24x7 on-call services once every 3 to 5 weeks.

• Residence: Candidate must live within 1.5 hours of The Hague (assignment location) and therefore reside in the Netherlands.

• Hybrid Working: Work is hybrid—on-site (The Hague), from home, or at the client office (Utrecht).

• Candidate must work on-site when required or requested. Indicatively twice per week, and more intensively during knowledge transfer periods.

• Eight hours of on-site work is mandatory; working from the train is not allowed.

• Education Level: Minimum HBO (Bachelor’s degree).
