Job title: Senior Gameplay Engineer

Location: Calgary

Work style: On-site (5 days a week)

We’ve teamed with a growing mobile game studio focused on building unforgettable mid-core experiences that players return to again and again. Small, empowered teams drive their creativity, and collaboration is central to everything they do - from early ideas to live games enjoyed by millions.

As a Senior C++ Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of development, shaping both gameplay features and the tools that bring them to life. You’ll write clean, performant C++ code, optimize across a wide range of mobile devices, and architect scalable systems. Just as importantly, you’ll build and refine internal tools that empower the team, streamline workflows, and remove friction from development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize gameplay systems and features in modern C++.
  • Architect modular systems supporting UI, rendering, scripting, and more.
  • Build and improve tools that accelerate development and iteration.
  • Debug and resolve complex technical issues across platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with design, art, and engineering teams.
  • Provide technical mentorship and champion best practices.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of C++ development, with 3+ in mobile game development (iOS/Android).
  • Expertise in modern C++ (C++20 minimum, C++23 a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of engine architecture, real-time systems, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with multi-threaded and parallel programming.
  • Solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.

Nice to Have

  • Shipped mobile or multiplayer titles.
  • Graphics programming (OpenGL, Vulkan, GLSL).
  • Experience with Unity, Unreal, or Godot.
  • Scripting or plugin experience (Lua, Python, Swift, etc.).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines or debugging mobile platforms.

We’re looking for a strong engineer and mentor who thrives in collaborative environments and is excited to help shape both the player experience and the way great games are made.
