W.W. Norton & Company is seeking a talented Visual UI/UX Designer with experience designing for web and mobile. We care deeply about the digital products we create. At Norton, UX research and design helps improve our product strategy. You will join a UX team of sharp, supportive, and motivated designers who collaborate closely with stakeholders, product managers and engineers to create exceptional experiences for our customers.

This hybrid role is ideal for a Visual/UI designer who has, or wants to gain experience in UX design, interaction design and user research.

Our UX team crosses many different types of customers, from general book readers to college students and instructors. We have a collaborative design team environment and strive to make complex products easy to use. We’re particularly proud of our Ed Tech products that focus on improving student learning. It’s challenging and important work.

Our UX designers are embedded on projects from initial kickoff through implementation. We practice a user-centered design approach with numerous user testing touchpoints in our product design process to create products that engage and delight our customers.

This position is 100% remote and reports to the Director of User Experience. Working hours typically are 9 am-5:30 pm EST. Occasional travel may be required.

Essential Job Responsibilities Include

  • Create pixel-perfect visual design deliverables for Norton Digital Products
  • Developing wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for Norton’s digital products.
  • Work closely with developers to implement high-fidelity designs and conduct visual QA.
  • Own and grow the visual portion of Norton’s Design System. You’ll create new components, maintain pattern libraries, and contribute to usage guidelines and other documentation.
  • Contribute to interaction design, user research, and discovery projects.
  • Create brand and marketing visual assets

Required Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years relevant experience designing for web and mobile sites
  • Strong portfolio featuring UI and visual design work.
  • Solid understanding of responsive web design principles, typography, color, and visual hierarchy.
  • Pixel -level attention to detail
  • Passion in solving UI/UX problems with creativity & users in mind
  • Interest in UX design and practicing user-centered design techniques
  • Understanding of HTML and CSS
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.x accessibility standards for visual design
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Proficiency with Figma
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Employment eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US
  • Must be able to work full business hours in the Eastern Standard Time zone (EST)

Compensation and Benefits*

Currently Available Benefits Include

  • Annual compensation for this position is $90,000-$110,000. All salaries and salary ranges posted by Norton may vary depending on experience, skills, location, and like considerations.
