DevOps Engineer - Contract/Freelance

We are looking for an AWS DevOps Engineer to join the team on a freelance basis for at least 6 months (possibility for extension)

You must be currently based in Norway, preferably the Oslo area

You will be working on our migration from an on-premises infrastructure to AWS, with a focus on designing, implementing, and optimising our Amazon EKS environment. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working in complex environments and enjoys building scalable, secure, and automated cloud-native systems.

Your responsibilities can include:

• Supporting the migration of workloads from on-premises to AWS.
• Design, deploy, and optimise EKS clusters for high availability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Implement best practices for Kubernetes networking, security, and observability.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments using IaC tools (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Set up CI/CD pipelines to support application deployments.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure a smooth migration with minimal downtime.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.

We are looking for you to have some of the following skills/experience:

• 4+ years of professional experience
• Strong experience with AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Load Balancers, etc.).
• Proven expertise with Kubernetes cluster management.
• Hands-on with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of containerisation (Docker) and orchestration.
• Experience in on-prem to cloud migrations.

Engagement Details:

• Freelance / Contract position
• Oslo based company with preference for onsite 3 days per week - potential for remote based in Norway with occasional travel for exceptional candidates
• Duration: 6+ months
• Start date: September preferred
