Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Implementation: Design, develop, and deploy cloud solutions on AWS, ensuring scalable and secure architecture.
Data Integration & Automation: Consolidate fragmented data systems into automated, end-to-end processing pipelines.
Technical Architecture Design:
Handle data ingestion (APIs, file transfers, remote sensing).
Design secure data storage and access systems for large datasets.
Develop data processing workflows, including geospatial and ML pipelines.
Create scalable data visualisation tools (e.g., dashboards, mapping interfaces).
Produce clear architectural documentation and diagrams.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with internal teams, clients, cloud providers, and external partners.
Cloud Migration: Support migration of existing systems and data to AWS.
Security & Compliance: Ensure solutions meet required security, compliance, and GDS standards.
System Optimisation: Improve performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of cloud solutions.
Advisory Role: Guide teams on AWS capabilities and architecture best practices.
Continuous Learning: Keep up with AWS updates and emerging cloud technologies.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently.
Team Collaboration: Work closely across engineering, DevOps, and development teams on AWS projects.
Skills Required
Cloud Experience: Strong background in cloud-native AWS solutions and migrations.
Technical Proficiency:
AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, etc.)
Virtualisation, networking, and security
Automation/scripting tools and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi)
Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
Geospatial Knowledge: Understanding of Earth Observation data and technologies.
Soft Skills:
Strong communication and teamwork
Analytical thinking and problem-solving
Agile work environment experience
Industry Awareness: Up-to-date with cloud trends, application scenarios, and best practices.
Experience with geospatial datasets (e.g., Sentinel, Copernicus).
Knowledge of geospatial tools (e.g., MapServer, OpenLayers).
Background in geospatial/satellite imagery data engineering.
Familiarity with WMS and data visualisation platforms.
Understanding of UK public sector IT and security frameworks.
