About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior AI/ML Engineer with deep expertise in building scalable, production-grade solutions leveraging NLP, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Large Language Models (LLMs). This is a high-impact role requiring solid software engineering skills, deep understanding of machine learning systems, and hands-on experience with modern agentic frameworks and vector-based search technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, maintainable ML/AI solutions (NLP, document understanding, retrieval/search systems)
• Integrate and manage APIs across services using REST, Kafka, and asynchronous communication patterns
• Develop secure services using OAuth2, JWT, and Azure AD for authentication and authorization
• Build and deploy RAG systems utilizing LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic), embeddings, and vector databases (FAISS, Azure AI Search)
• Apply advanced NLP techniques (NER, classification, chunking, summarization, QA)
• Rapidly prototype and iterate on proof-of-concept solutions
• Leverage frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex in building agentic applications
• Profile, debug, and optimize AI-powered applications for performance and scalability
• Evaluate ML models and techniques to recommend the most suitable solution for business needs

Must-Have Qualifications

• 10+ years of overall experience in software development or IT
• Proven delivery of at least two production-grade AI/ML systems
• Strong Python proficiency (FastAPI, Flask, asyncio, microservices architecture)
• Expert-level understanding of:
• API Integration (REST, Kafka, inter-service communication)
• Authentication/Authorization (OAuth2, JWT, Azure AD)
• RAG architecture and LLM integration (OpenAI, Anthropic)
• NLP pipelines (NER, classification, summarization, QA)
• Hands-on experience with:
• Embedding models and vector databases
• Agentic frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex
• Excellent debugging, profiling, and optimization skills in AI systems
• Willingness and ability to work 3 days/week onsite at UBS Krakow

Good to Have

• Experience with OCR libraries (e.g., Tesseract, Azure Form Recognizer)
