Responsibilities:
- Support and enhance core payment systems to ensure the scalability, reliability, and high availability of our multi-tenant platform serving Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu.
- Collaborate with engineers to evolve the architecture and implementation of Tier 1 services and integrate with new payment processors, including support for global requirements like SCA in EMEA.
- Design and build high-throughput, mission-critical systems that process millions of transactions with a focus on resilience, performance, and operational excellence.
- Implement secure, PCI-compliant practices for handling and tokenizing credit card data, following industry best standards.
- Write maintainable, well-tested code, engage in peer reviews, and contribute to long-term system health.
- Participate in on-call rotations and help drive continuous improvements to system reliability and developer experience.
- Grow through mentorship, hands-on experience, and by staying curious about emerging technologies in the global payments space.
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
- Proficiency in Scala, Java, or similar programming languages.
- Experience with API design, including REST and/or gRPC.
- Demonstrated analytical and strong system design skills.
- Exposure to event-driven systems using technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SNS/SQS.
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure, such as AWS, Spinnaker, and Kubernetes.
- Strong communicator and team player, able to adapt quickly and contribute effectively in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- A commitment to continuous learning, mentorship, and striving for excellence.
- Experience working in functional programming environments, especially with Scala and the Cats Effect ecosystem.
- Experience working with distributed teams.
- Experience managing Tier 1 production services, including participation in on-call rotations and incident response.
