Lead Software Engineer - Backend (PHP)

We are looking for an innovative and driven Lead Software Engineer - Backend to join Feedonomics' fully remote Engineering team.

You will work closely with skilled engineers to design, implement, and optimize mission-critical infrastructure and services for our data-intensive SaaS platform.

Responsibilities

Build scalable and highly reliable applications and services to support business objectives
Solve infrastructure challenges with code and deliver effective post-release application support
Drive improvements in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for streamlined development and deployment
Collaborate with product owners and engineering leaders to define architecture options and deliver solutions
Analyze system failures and contribute to actionable insights that reduce recurrence
Champion initiatives for systems and infrastructure optimization
Identify and recommend tools, processes, and technologies to address business challenges
Leverage industry expertise to elevate engineering standards and processes

Requirements

5+ years of experience in backend programming
3+ years of proficiency in PHP (preferred), Python, GoLang, Java, or other backend languages
3+ years of working with MySQL or similar database technologies
Understanding of database schema design and scalability principles
Knowledge of communication protocols such as TCP, RPC, etc.
Background in Distributed Systems and caching tools like Redis or Memcached
Strong familiarity with Linux operating systems and containerization tools like Docker
Skills in full-stack observability tools such as New Relic (strongly preferred)
Capability to analyze time and memory complexity
Expertise in DevOps practices (preferred)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Authorization to work in the U.S.
