Data analyst PowerBI & SAP BO (Freelance)

We are looking for a highly skilled Power BI Expert for our client in the financial sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in Power BI, and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights.

The consultant will work as a Power BI Expert within the Cash development team (6 people).

The overall project involves:

• Migrating the data from the CashSSP datawarehouse to the cloud.
• Converting a large number of static PDF reports (SAP BO) into Power BI reports that meet the same business requirements.
  
  
  

This new data warehouse will be leveraged by 12 European countries, making it a crucial tool for strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.

Key Responsabilities

1. Coaching & Mentoring (50%)

You will dedicate approximately half of your time coaching and mentoring a team composed of IT developers and less experienced business users. Your role will be to guide them in improving their skills, adopting best practices, and deepening their understanding of Power BI data modeling and data visualization.

2. Data Modeling & Report Development (50%)

The remaining portion of your role will focus on:

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining robust semantic models to support scalable, performant, consistent reporting including support for self-service analytics by business users.
• Developing and optimizing Power BI reports and dashboards that deliver clear insights aligned with business requirements. Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the alignment of technical solutions with business objectives.
  
  
  

Required Skills & Qualifications

1. Coaching & BI Expertise

• Proven experience as a Power BI Expert in a complex, enterprise environment.
• Power BI certification is a strong asset.
• Expertise in DAX, Power Query, and Power BI Desktop/Service.
• Experience in creating paginated reports is a plus.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms is preferred.
• Knowledge of SAP BO to analyze existing reports is considered as a significant advantage
  
  
  

2. Semantic Modeling

• Solid experience in data modeling, data transformation, and data integration.
• Ability to design semantic layers that ensure data consistency and performance.
• Knowledge of Row-Level Security (RLS) implementation in a multi-country, multi-user environment.
• Understanding of different data connectivity modes (Import, DirectQuery, Live Connection) and when to use them.
• Experience with Power BI deployment pipelines, workspace structuring, and lifecycle management.
  
  
  

3. Report Development

• Strong understanding of data visualization best practices, including layout, user experience, and accessibility.
• Ability to translate business requirements into impactful dashboards and visuals.
• (Optional) Experience working directly with business stakeholders to gather and refine reporting needs.
